We created seven worlds around a central square, each with its own theme: luxury, family, travel & culture, modern Dutch, see buy fly, fashion & lifestyle, and care & wellness. Every world has its own concept for retail, catering, services, and seating areas.
A SOCIAL LOUNGE
Lounge 2 Schiphol

A completely new interior for Lounge 2 at Schiphol AirportIn close cooperation with Schiphol’s in-house architect Benthem Crouwel NACO, we have transformed Schiphol’s largest passenger waiting area into a ‘Social Lounge’. A new lounge where travellers can comfortably linger, where they can meet each other in an informal setting and where there is plenty to discover.

The architecture and the interior blend seamlessly into one another.

The ultimate goal was to transform Lounge 2 into a ‘social lounge’, with surprising elements and places for relaxed encounters.

Seven different worlds

Oversized conversation pieces
We placed a number of intriguing objects that surprise people, and trigger conversation and interaction. A monumental clock by Maarten Baas seems to house a real person inside writing the time. Herds of ceramic cows walk on the walls. There are real trees. And a spectacular airplane slide is a magnet for children. This makes Lounge 2 an unforgettable experience that invites you to keep returning.
